Helpfile for !HDBackup V1.0ß
© 1994 Andreas Schubert
!HDBackup is a program to save your whole harddisc or parts of it on other
media like discs. It uses Frank Lancaster's tar.
After a doubleclick !HDBackup installs itself on the iconbar. After another
click on this icon, you'll see the mainwindow that needs no explanation at
all.
After a click on "single objects" another window appears on the screen,
where you can drag other files or directories to save only certain parts of
your harddisc.
In this window there is some menu like the one of the filer.
Such lists and all other choices may be saved in a job to be used again.
The default values for "Source" and "Destination" are stored in
HDSourceFS, HDSourceDrive, HDSourcePath, HDDestFS, HDDestDrive and
HDDestPath which are set in !Run.
After a click on "Start" the backup begins with multitasking. In the status
window the current file is displayed and you have the possibility to stop
the backup. But you should only use this in some kind of emergency because
files stay open after such break.
It is necessary that you remember the order of the media to restore
correctly.
To restore a backup, just doubleclick on the program !HDRestore that you
find on the first media of your backup.
IMPORTANT:
You only can restore your backup from the original media to the same
hard drive!
Then you will se some window where you can choose if you want to restore
the whole backup or only one part of it.
You have to give the exact
path if you want to restore a single object.
IMPORTANT! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE THE USE OF THIS SOFTWARE
MAY CAUSE!
